A Brief History of Rieck Services

Rieck ServicesRieck Services began as the H.F. Rieck Company in 1892, a Dayton, Ohio company founded by Herman Rieck. The H.F. Rieck Company primarily focused on the sheet metal, but expanded into the roofing industry when Herman's sons, Bernard and Edward, took over the company in 1913. H.F. Rieck Company was then renamed The Rieck Sheet Metal and Roofing Company. Under the direction of Bernard and Edward Rieck, the company became an area innovator in shop fabrication and roofing installation techniques.

In 1946, Bernard's son Harold Sr. formed his own heating and air conditioning company called Harold R. Rieck and Son. His son, Harold Rieck Jr., joined the company in 1956. In this same year, refrigeration was added to the business. In 1962, H. R. and Son merged with Rieck Sheet Metal and Roofing Company, maintaining the name of Harold R. Rieck and Son.

In 1958, the firm was incorporated and began to expand into more phases of the mechanical contracting field. To accommodate the growth of the business, a new building was built on Wadsworth Road in 1966, which remains the location of the business today. Harold R. Rieck Jr. became the sole owner of the company in 1969. In 1977, the name was changed to Rieck Mechanical Services, Inc., which became Rieck Mechanical & Electrical, Inc. in 1998.

History of a Proud Family EstablishmentRieck Services' present facility contains nearly 60,000 square feet of area, housing 20,000 square feet of estimating and office space, and nearly 40,000 square feet of manufacturing area. In 2001, a new warehouse will be completed, offering an additional 9500 square feet of space. The company employees approximately 200+ employees.

In October 2000, the Exelon Corporation, one of the nation’s leading providers of energy services, purchased Rieck Servicess. As a part of the Exelon family of companies.  In 2003/2004 Exelon decided to sell Rieck Services as part of its strategy to focus on its utility business.
In July of 2004 Harold Rieck (Rieck Group, LLC) purchased Rieck Mechanical and Electrical Services back from Exelon and renamed the company Rieck Services.

Today Rieck Services is a 36 million dollar a year company and continues to provide the highest level of mechanical services to the Miami Valley.
